01: What is HoldX?
HoldX is a two-part magnetic mount. One part sticks to your laptop, the other to an SSD or another external device.
02: Which gadgets work with it?
Any gadget with a base at least 5 cm (1.9 in) wide, such as SSDs, power banks and dongles. HoldX is 5 x 5 cm (1.9 x 1.9 in) and 0.5 cm (0.19 in) thick. It holds up to 1.2 kg (2.6 lb).
03: Which laptops and surfaces work?
HoldX sticks with 3M tape. It is made for plastic, metal and other flat, non-porous surfaces. That includes the back of most laptops, not only MacBooks.
04: Does it work through a leather laptop cover?
We have not listed leather as a supported surface, so we cannot promise it. Email us at support@deltahub.io with your laptop model and cover type.
05: Does it work with silicone cases?
No. HoldX does not work on silicone or similar materials. For silicone-coated SSDs, use the HoldX SSD Sleeve.
06: Will it scratch my laptop?
A layer of tape sits between HoldX and your laptop, so the mount does not touch the surface.
07: How do I remove it, and can I reuse it?
Yes, it takes a little effort.
- Warm the HoldX gently with a hairdryer.
- Pry it off with the included spatula.
- Remove the old tape.
- Stick on new 3M double-sided tape, in strips of about 5 cm (2 in), in the same pattern.

08: Are the magnets safe for my SSD?
The magnets are shielded with MuMetal. Hard drives (HDDs) store data magnetically and are more sensitive. We do not expect problems in normal use, but use extra caution with an HDD, especially with critical data. We suggest an SSD. Keep your SSD with HoldX attached in a separate pocket from other drives.
