A Bad Gifter’s Guide to Christmas Shopping

A Bad Gifter’s Guide to Christmas Shopping - DeltaHub

A brief introduction

Every friend group has that one person that’s terrible at gift-giving. They either pick the wrong size or the wrong color or can’t even follow simple gifting instructions when given to them.

If you’re my friend — that person is me.

Ever since I can remember I sucked at giving gifts. It’s not that I don’t have my best intentions in mind, I really do. It’s just that the ability of good gift-giving has always eluded me.

It might have to do with the fact that I’m a terrible listener, and I often focus on one small detail and do all my gift-giving around that.

I’ll use this moment to apologize to my friend, who because she once said owls are cute, had to endure the torture of getting owl-themed things for every major holiday and birthday.

The 5 rules of good gift giving

I’ve gotten a bit better in recent years, and since Christmas is just around the corner I’d love to share some gift-giving tips I learned on my journey:

Rule #1

If someone tells you what they want — give it to them.

Rule #2

Buy smart, not expensive. An expensive gift doesn’t mean it’s good.

Rule #3

You can’t go wrong with getting people something that works with their hobby.

Rule #4

Check if the person is vegan before taking them to a steak preparation class. Very important.

Rule #5

If all else fails, get a gift card and let them choose their own present.

The shopping list

In case you’re as horrible at gift-giving as me, here are a few ideas on what to get this Christmas.

Don’t worry, they were reviewed by my co-workers.

1. For the people who can’t seem to settle down…for one setup, you can give them the Carpio Christmas Bundle.

2. If your friend is in need of a major upgrade, but you don’t want to spend your entire last-months paycheck on one gift, here’s a DeltaHub Christmas Bundle.

Products featured in the bundle:

Carpio 2.0

Our flagship product, the alpha of DeltaHub, and a one-stop gadget for a more ergonomic setup. The base padding is made out of high-grade silicone, and on the bottom, there are PTFE Teflon feet for seamless gliding.

Carpio G2.0

Carpio 2.0’s geeky, little brother. More control, more stability, and simply just more awesome. It features a silicone strap that keeps your wrist rest secure on your hand and new perforated padding that allows more airflow.

Minimalistic Desk Pad

The ultimate way to cozy-fy your workspace. Made out of soft felt material with sewn-in edges ensures amazing comfort without worrying about fraying edges. It’s also our secret way of making even the messiest setups look organized.

All in all, try to have fun with your gift. I know it can be stressful but that’s exactly why I decided to write this gift guide — we bad gift-givers need to stick together, right?

Just remember, if it’s a good gift, they’ll appreciate it forever. If it’s a bad one, you’ll hear about it at every major get-together.
