Pure, polished glass glides on any surface — but on glass desk pads, the difference is immediate. Near-zero resistance. No catch, no drag, just effortless movement across your desk.

PTFE is a solid material. Glass is in a different category entirely — harder, smoother at a microscopic level, and completely resistant to the gradual wear that dulls standard skates over time. Your Carpio 2.0 will feel new for longer.

Frequently asked questions
Answers to most common questions regarding this product
What's actually different between Glass Skates and the Teflon ones my Carpio came with?
PTFE (Teflon) is the industry default for a reason — it's smooth and it works. But it's also soft, which means it gradually wears down with use. The texture changes. The glide gets worse. You don't notice it happening until it already has.
Glass skates are harder at a material level, so they don't compress or degrade the same way. The glide you get on day one is the glide you'll have a year later. On most surfaces the difference is subtle. On a glass desk pad, it's not — less resistance, more precision, a noticeably different feel under your hand.
Will these fit my Carpio?
Glass Gliding Skates fit on all Carpio 2.0 and G2.0 pads.
Do I need tools to install them?
No. They come already installed on the base. Just swap the pads from your old Carpio base to the new one.
Is it actually glass? Won't that scratch my desk or crack?
Yes, it's real glass — polished to a level that's actually smoother than PTFE at a microscopic level. As for scratching: glass on glass doesn't scratch (which is why it pairs so well with glass desk pads), and on standard desk surfaces, the contact area is small enough and the weight light enough that scratching isn't a concern under normal use.
Cracking is a fair question. The skates are small, dense, and not under any real impact stress during use — they're gliding, not taking hits. They're built to handle the pressure of a wrist rest, not absorb drops. Treat your Carpio the way you normally would and they'll hold up.
Why isn't this just included with Carpio?
Teflon does the job for most people. Glass Skates are for the ones who want the gliding to feel better for longer; that's worth a separate price tag, not a default everyone pays for.
